Paatal Lok: Netizens Allege Anushka Sharma’s Series Promotes Hinduphobia; Raise Objection At Meat-Eating Scene And Demand A Ban
Anushka Sharma's digital debut as a producer with Amazon's web series, Paatal Lok was highly anticipated and there has been a lot of buzz ever since it released. The series received a great response from viewers, however, it looks like a section of Netizens is displeased with it and alleged the show for promoting Hinduphobia. They slammed the show and even demanded a ban trending several hashtags such as #BanPaatalLok, # BoycottPataalLok among others. They claimed that there were certain scenes hurting Hindu sentiments and that the series should not be entertained.

One scene, in particular, was pointed out my many of them slamming Paatal Lok. Sharing a still from the scene, they shared that it was offensive to show a man-eating beef in front of the picture of a Hindu Goddess and that it hurt Hindu sentiments.  While one user wrote, “Making of such Hindu hating series should not be further entertained. Let’s make a trend to #banpaatallok. Hindus are brainwashed n are going against thrown ppl. Let’s tweet with a tag to ban. Is there a way to complain, as it is hurting Hindu sentiments?” while another tweet read, “#BanPaatalLok Pujari serving meat and person eating in the temple, to disgrace further they wore his slippers. How much hate you guys have for Hinduism and how desperate producers are for controversy and money.”

Paatal Lok premiered on May 15 on Amazon Prime Video and the web show is helmed by Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy. The series has nine episodes in the debut season and stars Neeraj Kabi and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles.
